BRIDGETOWN, Barbados – The Barbados Tridents delivered one of their most complete performances of the 2026 Caribbean Premier League (CPL) campaign on Sunday night, dismantling the Guyana Amazon Warriors for just 99 runs before securing a comfortable six-wicket victory in front of a stunned home crowd.
Opting to bowl first, the Tridents relentless attack never let the Warriors settle. AM Ghazanfar and Johann Layne led the charge, picking up three wickets apiece to shred the Warriors’ batting lineup. Glenn Phillips offered the only real resistance for Guyana, top-scoring with a patient 24 before the innings collapsed under sustained pressure.
The run-chase got off to a rocky start as the Tridents wobbled early against Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who bowled with precision to take 2 for 25. However, opener Brandon King anchored the innings with a composed, unbeaten 44. King found a reliable partner in Descartes, whose quickfire 32 injected crucial momentum to overhaul the target and seal the win with four wickets down.
The victory provides the Tridents with a massive surge of momentum as the tournament transitions into the knockouts.
