St. Kitts and Nevis will be represented by three promising young sailors at the regional regatta, October 22–25, 2026.
The St. Kitts and Nevis Sailing Association (SKNSA), represented by sailors from the Nevis Aquatic and Sailing Centre (NASC) and the St. Kitts Yacht Club (SKYC), is proudly participating in the 30th Caribbean Dinghy Championships (CDC), taking place October 22–25, 2026, at the St. Maarten Yacht Club in St. Maarten.
Recognised as one of the Caribbean’s premier sailing competitions, the CDC brings together the region’s top sailing talent for four days of high-level racing and spirited competition. This year’s championship features 64 sailors from nine island nations competing across seven classes: Optimist, RS Quest, RS Zest, ILCA 4, ILCA 6, ILCA 7, and Sun Fast 20.
Three Young Sailors Ready to Compete
Representing St. Kitts and Nevis in the ILCA 4 class are Abhijith Srinivasan, Owen Maish, and Ferran Waters. Each sailor brings a unique combination of competitive experience, determination, and dedicated preparation to the regional stage.
Abhijith Srinivasan, 14, arrives with valuable international racing experience, having represented St. Kitts and Nevis at the North American Championships in Los Angeles and the Youth World Championships in Denmark. His participation in these high-level competitions reflects his continued development and commitment to the sport.
Owen Maish, 13, enters the championship with strong momentum after capturing first place at the National Dinghy Championships in St. Kitts and Nevis. Building on this achievement, Owen has continued to sharpen his sailing skills through intensive training in Canada as he prepares to take on the Caribbean’s best young competitors.
Ferran Waters, 14, is equally ready to make his mark. Following a summer of intensive training and technical development in Canada and St. Kitts and Nevis, Ferran is prepared to put his hard work into practice and demonstrate his progress on the racecourse.
Strong Support Behind the Team
Guided by Coach Nicholas Dupre, the three sailors head into the championship prepared to represent their federation with pride, determination, and sportsmanship.
The St. Kitts and Nevis Sailing Association extends its sincere appreciation to NASC and SKYC for their continued foundational support, as well as to the coaches whose dedication helps develop the next generation of sailing talent. Special recognition is also extended to the parents, families, and well-wishers whose encouragement and commitment play an invaluable role in the sailors’ journeys.
The Association also expresses its heartfelt gratitude to the St. Kitts and Nevis Olympic Committee (SKNOC) for its vital support in providing opportunities for young athletes to develop their skills and compete on the regional stage.
As the championships get underway, the nation is encouraged to rally behind Abhijith, Owen, and Ferran as they proudly represent St. Kitts and Nevis. Their participation reflects the growing potential of youth sailing in the federation and the importance of continued investment in the development of young sporting talent.
