CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS — The Ministry of Health, Gender Affairs and Social Empowerment, through the management of Alexandra Hospital, wishes to inform the general public that visitations to Alexandra Hospital and the Flamboyant Nursing Home are temporarily suspended, effective immediately from Monday, October 26, 2026, to Sunday, November 1, 2026, in the first instance.
This proactive measure has been implemented following the identification of chickenpox cases within the facilities. The temporary restriction is a vital precaution intended to safeguard vulnerable patients, residents, and staff, and to prevent any further spread of the infection within our healthcare institutions.
Key Public Health Reminders:
Review and Updates: The suspension will be continuously monitored and evaluated based on formal guidance from the hospital’s Infection, Prevention, and Control (IPC) Team. The public will be promptly informed of any extension or the resumption of normal visiting hours.
Call Ahead Advisory: Any members of the public experiencing symptoms consistent with chickenpox—or who suspect they may have been exposed—are strictly requested to call ahead before visiting any healthcare facility, including the hospital.
Hospital management sincerely apologises for any inconvenience this necessary restriction may cause and extends its gratitude to the community for their unwavering understanding, patience, and cooperation in protecting public health.
