The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force has observed persons advertising and offering paid transportation services to the public under descriptions such as “Uber” and other lift services, using vehicles registered for private use (P, PA, PB, PC).

Members of the public are advised that advertising a transport service on social media or accepting bookings through a messaging platform does not establish that the service is licensed or appropriately insured.

Persons offering these services are advised to refrain from transporting passengers for payment unless they have obtained the necessary authorisation, vehicle registration, and insurance coverage for that purpose.

Private-use vehicle registration and ordinary private motor insurance should not be treated as authorisation or adequate coverage for carrying paying passengers. Anyone intending to provide such services should first obtain the appropriate authorisations.

Members of the public are strongly advised against using unverified or unauthorised paid transport services. In the event of a collision, the absence of appropriate insurance may create serious difficulties in securing compensation for injury, loss, or damage. Passengers should use properly licensed public transport providers and satisfy themselves that the vehicle and driver are authorised to provide the service.

The police urge vehicle owners, drivers, and passengers to act responsibly and place safety first.

Your safety matters. Choose licensed and appropriately insured transportation.
