Two more exciting games were played in the ongoing tape ball cricket league, being hosted by the Youth and Sports department.
The two matches were played at the ET Willet Park, on the evening of Saturday 20th October.
In match one, All Stars batted first versus Empire and could only manage 68 for 2 from their allotted 10 overs, obviously missing their fire power at the top of the innings, in Jamie Cornelius and Javani Tyson.
They interestingly opened the innings with Kian Pemberton and Junie Williams.
Junie Williams got 24 not out and Tonito Willet scored 25.
You would think that the powerful Empire line up would overhaul the paltry score, but that was not to be.
Empire with such talented acts as Javia Liburd; Jelani Manners; Adelvin Phillip, Junior Mills and company, succumbed on 60 for 6 at the end of their 10 overs.
Summarized scores: All Stars 68 for 2 from 10 overs:
Tonito Willet 25;
Junie Williams 24*
Tiwan Prentice 1 for 9;
Jeron Liburd 1 for 8
Empire 60 for 6 from 10 overs:
Javia Liburd 13;
Jadel Allen 12;
Adelvin Phillip 11
Akito Willet; Tonito Willet and Junie Williams all had 1 wicket each and there were three run outs
All Stars won by 8 runs
In game two, Calypso came up against Rawlins.
Calypso batted first and got to a competitive 93 for 4 from their 10 overs: 37 extras were a healthy addition to the score.
Rawlins, when they batted, always seemed to be in striking range but things went haywire after Huggins was run out, while his team mate at the other end, Wharton, was concentrating on picking up his bat, which had fallen from his hand, instead of crossing for a second run.
The Rawlins team, succumbed at 89 for 3 from their 10 overs.
Summarized scores: Calypso 93 for 4 from 10:
Ev Webbe 15;
Duane Webbe 13;
Dennis Sargeant 13
Solomon, Smithen, Huggins and Manners 1 wicket each.
Rawlins 89 for 3 from 10 overs:
