Ambassador Mutryce Williams Prioritizes Youth Empowerment and Agency in Rich Exchange with Visiting Columbia University Model United Nations Delegation

United Nations, New York –** The Permanent Mission of St. Kitts and Nevis, led by Her Excellency Dr. Mutryce Williams, focused on sustainability and security during an engagement with a high school delegation from Indonesia visiting for the Columbia University Model United Nations Conference and Exposition 2025. The discussion benefited from the presence of His Excellency Donya Francis, Ambassador to Taiwan, and Mr. Eustace T. Wallace, Minister Counselor at the Permanent Mission.

The Federation’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations encouraged the Indonesian delegation, stating, “Be curious throughout your development, and do not be limited by the school or discipline you choose early on.”

Dr. Williams further emphasized the role of the United Nations as a force for good in the world, highlighting the Organization’s efforts to empower and protect youth, as well as promoting sustainable development and resilience, particularly for women and girls.

His Excellency Donya Francis shared his perspective as a former teacher, stressing that engaging with students is crucial to bridging generational and cultural divides. This engagement fosters mutual understanding, cooperation, and connectivity among diverse groups.

The event, recognized as one of the country’s premier high school Model United Nations conferences, provided a uniquely challenging and enriching debate experience for delegates from around the world. The Columbia University Model United Nations Conference and Exposition (CMUNCE) took place from January 16 to 19, 2025, in New York City.
