2026 Bank of Nevis 40-Over Season – Division 2
Highlights 2 recorded a commanding five-wicket victory in the 2026 Bank of Nevis 40-Over Division 2 competition, comfortably defeating a shorthanded Jets team at Brown Hill on Sunday.
The Jets, who took the field with only seven players, struggled to post a competitive total after electing to bat first. They were dismissed for 82 in 14.5 overs, a target that Highlights 2 successfully chased down in just 12.4 overs, finishing on 83/5 with 17.2 overs to spare.
First Innings: Jets Stumble Against Disciplined Bowling
The Jets’ innings got off to a difficult start and never truly recovered. A mix-up between the wickets resulted in the run-out of Curtis Morton Sr. in the second over, removing a key batsman before the team had settled.
Jhaidel Allen provided some resistance at the top of the order, striking three boundaries in a 20-run knock from 28 deliveries before being trapped leg before wicket (LBW).
The middle order then came under sustained pressure from the Highlights 2 bowling attack. Zakeem Bailey was particularly effective, claiming two wickets in quick succession to leave the Jets reeling.
Tejahni Daniel showed admirable composure amid the collapse, batting with purpose and determination. However, he found little support from the other end. His unbeaten 25 off 29 balls, highlighted by a late flurry of boundaries, helped push the total to 82 before the innings ended in the 15th over.
Second Innings: Bailey Guides Highlights 2 Home
Defending a modest target of 83, the Jets displayed commendable determination despite being significantly undermanned.
Veteran all-rounder Curtis Morton Sr. led the fightback with the ball, producing an excellent spell of 3 for 22. His experience and variations troubled the Highlights 2 batsmen and kept the contest competitive longer than many expected.
Tyreese Jeffers fell early before Taysean Wilkinson injected momentum into the chase with a brisk 15 from just 10 balls, including two boundaries, before being dismissed LBW. When Tylo Nisbett departed for 14, there was a brief opening for the Jets to mount a comeback.
However, Bailey remained composed. Having already starred with the ball, the all-rounder anchored the chase with an unbeaten 20 from 33 deliveries, guiding Highlights 2 safely to 83/5 in 12.4 overs.
