Nevis Island Administration and G.C. Foster College Formalise Strategic Partnership to Advance Education and Sport

Nevis, St. Kitts and Nevis — The Nevis Island Administration’s Ministry of Education and Sports has taken a significant step toward strengthening education, sports development, and youth empowerment through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with G.C. Foster College of Physical Education and Sport in Jamaica.

The landmark agreement, spearheaded by Minister of Education and Sports, the Honourable Troy Liburd, establishes a framework for collaboration aimed at expanding opportunities for students, athletes, coaches, educators, and sports administrators across Nevis.

The partnership will facilitate greater access to academic programmes, professional certification, research initiatives, and capacity-building opportunities in the fields of sport, physical education, and human development. It also reflects a shared commitment to enhancing regional cooperation and promoting excellence through education and sport.

Minister Liburd described the agreement as a strategic investment in the future of Nevis and its people.

“This partnership represents far more than the signing of a document. It is an investment in our youth, our educators, our athletes, and the future development of our island. By working closely with one of the Caribbean’s leading institutions in sport and physical education, we are creating pathways that will empower individuals and strengthen our capacity for years to come,” he said.

Key areas of collaboration under the agreement include:

Enhancing sports development and coaching education
Expanding academic and professional training opportunities
Promoting research and knowledge sharing
Strengthening regional partnerships and collaboration
Building leadership capacity in sport and education
Creating sustainable pathways for youth development

The Ministry noted that the partnership aligns with its broader vision of fostering excellence in education and sport while preparing young people to compete and succeed in an increasingly dynamic regional and global environment.

As Nevis continues to invest in human capital development, the collaboration with G.C. Foster College marks another important milestone in creating opportunities that will benefit current and future generations.

Together, the two institutions are laying the foundation for stronger educational outcomes, enhanced sporting excellence, and greater regional cooperation throughout the Caribbean.
