Prime Minister Drew Joins Caribbean Leaders in St. Lucia for 51st CARICOM Heads of Government Meeting

CASTRIES, Saint Lucia — Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, Hon. Dr Terrance M. Drew, has officially handed over the Chairmanship of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) to Hon. Phillip J. Pierre, Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, during the opening ceremony of the 51st Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of CARICOM.

The ceremonial handover marked the conclusion of Prime Minister Drew’s six-month tenure as Chairman of CARICOM, during which he led the regional body through discussions on several key issues affecting the Caribbean Community.

Over the coming days, Heads of Government from across the Region will deliberate on a wide range of matters critical to the Caribbean’s shared future, including strengthening regional integration, enhancing economic resilience, addressing climate change, advancing food and nutrition security, improving citizen security, and deepening cooperation among Member States.

The conference provides an important platform for Caribbean leaders to collaborate on policies and initiatives aimed at promoting sustainable development and improving the quality of life for the people of the Region.

Prime Minister Drew is participating alongside fellow CARICOM leaders as they work collectively to advance the priorities and interests of the Caribbean Community under the new chairmanship of Prime Minister Pierre.
