Following hot on the heels of an official sendoff ceremony which was held on Tuesday 12th January, Adrian Williams was the focus of yet another send off, as he prepared to board the ferry on Wednesday 13th January, to St.Kitts, where he was scheduled to board a flight to the USA to commence his stint of higher education in pursuit of an Associate’s degree in Physical Therapy.

On hand to chair the brief proceedings, was Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Social Development, Mr. Keith Glasgow who lauded Mr. Williams on his outstanding athletic achievements so far and wished him every success in his new endeavour, on his own behalf and on behalf of Minister Hazel Brandy-Williams and the entire Nevis Island Administration.

Also on hand to wish the young athlete well, was Secretary of the Nevis Amateur Athletic Association, Mrs. Carla Liburd who asked Mr. Williams to continue to excel and stated that she is looking forward to hearing that he had qualified for the upcoming Olympics.

President of the NAAA, Mr. Lester Blackett took the opportunity to thank all those who had a hand in making Adrian’s academic dream a reality and noted that once he would have completed the Associate’s degree, he would be expected to enroll in an university to strive to achieve a full degree.

Adrian’s mom, Ms. Glennette Williams, hugged him and almost tearfully, expressed her love for her son and wished him well. She stated confidently:  “I know you can do it but am just saying, focus on your studies and do your best.’

As Williams prepared to board the ferry, he took time out to again thank the Nevis Island Administration for all of the assistance provided thus far and his overseas based manager, Ms. Afresha Wright who assisted in securing the scholarship for him. He also thanked his many coaches, his family and many supporters for all of their help.

He promised to do his utmost to succeed at his course of study and related athletic pursuits.
