According to Wanda Parry, President of the Church Ground Basketball Association, a twenty-five and under Parish league Basketball tournament, is set to shoot off this Saturday night-2nd July.
She indicated that she and her committee have heeded the call of the youths to get a tournament going.
As regards sponsors for the tournament, she has asked the Ministers of Government responsible for the various Parish constituencies, to assist with T-shirts for the players and transportation.
She has also received donations from community members, which will go towards purchasing the grand winner’s trophy and assist with giving the Referees and other officials, a token of appreciation.
The tournament will consist of one round of preliminary matches and a best of three finals, which will be played at the Church Ground hard court.
On Saturday night, the action will commence with a brief opening ceremony and then two matches.
Matches will be played on Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday nights.
Match time will be 7.00 pm except on Sundays when matches are scheduled to commence at 6.30 pm
