Calypso Cricket Makes SDA Jets Dance to Their Tune

It was a one sided affair.

Game two in the ongoing T-20 league, hosted by the Nevis Cricket Association, on Sunday 6th December, saw the Calypso Cricket team, engaging the SDA Jets.

The Calypso team won the toss and elected to bat first.  It was a roadmarch for them right throughout their innings, led by a superb ton by Webbe, who batted right through the entire innings.

The Jets in response had a blistering start as well with Carlon Smithen and Curtis Morton Sr going hammer and tongs and at 35 without loss from just 3 overs, the Jets seemed very much in the game.

Then it happened.

Smithen pushed a ball towards backward of point and called for the run.  The batsmen miscalculated the speed and agility of natural athlete, Marcus Dubbery and Morton was run out, by a long shot.

Carlon Smithen then entertained the crowd, with his lusty hitting, even taking out the windshield of one vehicle that was parked well beyond the boundary line.  Then he chopped on one from Marcus Dubbery.

Thereafter, senior statesmen, Vance Amory and Elroy Kelly, opted to play sedately to the end of the innings.

The Jets getting to 121 for 5, when the umpires called play.

Summarized scores:

Calypso cricket 202 for 2 from 20 overs: D. Webbe 109*; S. Jeffers 47; Marcus Dubbery 25*
Earl Rawlins 1 for 42

SDA Jets 121 for 5 from 20 overs: Carlon Smithen 47; Vance Amory 19*; Elroy Kelly 18*; Curtis Morton Sr 13
Marcus Dubbery 2 for 28; Terron Webbe 1 for 6
