CCC Bath United One Takes Basil Challenger Cup

There was music and a sizeable crowd at the Bath Village Play Field on the evening of Wednesday 24th July.
It was game two of the finals in the Basil Challenger Cup, hosted by the CCC Bath United Football Club and sponsored by Caribbean Cable Communications.

The CCC Bath united one team had won the first game in the best of three finals and Segment Boys had promised that there would be a game three.

It was an intense first half and the Segment Boys were the first to celebrate as the speedy Akeem Taylor, completed a solo run to strike the back of the net. However, not long after, a blunder by goalie ‘PAS’ saw him stranded out of his goal and the score was 1-all. Segment Boys followed up with another strike by Jaslyn Small and the half time score saw the CCC Bath United one team trailing with a score line of 2 goals to 1.

Both teams increased the momentum in the second half, but it was the CCC Bath United one team with a crucial strike to tie the game at 2 goals all at the end of 90 minutes.
The game went into overtime for another 30 minutes and Bath United one sealed the deal with another strike that left the Segment Boys deflated.

Final score: CCC Bath United one 3 to Segment Boys 2.
CCC Bath United one therefore creating history and becoming the first winners of the Basil Challenger cup.
