Charlestown-Nevis-Today, Thursday 1st June, officially marks the start of Child month 2017.
The month was officially launched by Premier and Minster of Education, Hon. Vance Amory, on Wednesday 31st May, during a televised address.
Premier Amory paid special attention to the theme being utilized for this the 33rd edition of the child month: “For Every Child, Early Moments Matter”.
He stated: ‘During the first 1000 days of a baby’s life, his or her brain cells can make up to 1000 new connections every second………A child whose brain is not properly developed may not learn as well or earn as much in the future. In short, a child who is properly nurtured and has received good parenting practices, stands a better chance of making a better living.’
He encouraged parents to play with and hug their children and to protect them from all forms of stress and violence.
