Charlestown, Nevis – The island’s signature Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, fondly known as *Christmas in the Capital*, officially ushered in the 2025 Christmas season on Wednesday, 3rd December, at the historic Memorial Square in Charlestown.
This year’s distinguished patron was **Ms. Josette Myers**, a long-serving educator celebrated for her dedicated service to the community. During the feature address, **Hon. Jahnel Nisbett** paid tribute to Ms Myers and commended the Community Development Department for their continued dedication and hard work in creating memorable cultural experiences for the people of Nevis.
Minister Nisbett also announced a generous contribution from **NEVLEC**, which has donated **twenty-two $100 vouchers**. These will be presented to patrons at Christmas Tree Lighting ceremonies held across the island throughout the season, adding an extra layer of cheer to this year’s celebrations.
A commemorative plaque was presented to Ms Myers in recognition of her service and her role as patron.
The evening unfolded with vibrant entertainment featuring some of Nevis’ top performers. Attendees enjoyed a rich display of talent, with artistes showcasing songs, dances, and musical selections that reflected the warmth and spirit of the season.
