CRADDOCK ROAD LEADS IN UNDER 17 TOURNAMENT

By:Curtis Morton

A bumper crowd was on hand as the inaugural under 17 Football tournament kicked off at the ET Willet Park on Sunday 29th November.

The tournament which is the brain child of Football coach at the Department of Sports, Leroy Jun-Jun Sweeney, is being hosted and coordinated by the Department of Sports.

Coordinator at the Department, Jamir Claxton, earlier indicated that once Sweeney came up with the idea, the Department threw its full weight of support behind it.

Sweeney for his part, noted that the idea was born out of a casual conversation with his young guards one day after training, when they indicated to him that they wanted to play more Football.

Out of that conversation, the idea for the tournament was born.

Two matches werre played on Sunday night.

In game one, Gingerland and St.Thomas’ ended an exciting drawn game with a 1-all score line and in the second game of the evening, Craddock Road, surprisingly dominated Bath with a score line of 5 goals to 1.

The tournament continues this coming Saturday 5th November but this time at the Bath Village Playing field with two matches:

Match one: Gingerland versus Bath at 3.30 pm

Match two: Craddock Road versus St.Thomas’

The general public is cordially invited to support the youngsters in this meaningful endeavour.
