Shawnisha Hector delivered a standout all-round performance as the Leeward Islands Women opened their 2026 CWI Women’s T20 Blaze campaign with a hard-fought victory over Jamaica in St. Vincent on Tuesday.
Hector scored the tournament’s first half-century, making 56 from 55 balls, which included six fours. She also made a significant impact with the ball, returning figures of 2 for 15 from four overs.
Batting first, the Leeward Islands posted 108 for 5, with Hector leading the scoring and captain Amanda Edwards contributing 20 runs.
In reply, Jamaica struggled to keep pace and was restricted to 99 for 8. Chedean Nation top-scored with an unbeaten 48, while Stefanie Taylor added 25.
