Jahzara Claxton of St. Kitts made history on Monday, May 26, when she received her first international cap for the West Indies women’s cricket team, becoming the first female player from St. Kitts and Nevis to achieve this milestone.
Claxton had an impressive debut, bowling four economical overs and conceding only 15 runs while also claiming her first one-day wicket. Although she was dismissed without scoring (a golden duck) when the West Indies batted, her performance on the field remained commendable.
Unfortunately, the West Indies women lost to the England team for the third consecutive match. They had a promising chance for victory at one point, but standout captain Hayley Matthews was caught in the deep, which shifted the momentum. Ultimately, the West Indies women’s team lost the T20 series 3-0.
