West Indies Under-19 captain Joshua Dorne produced a brilliant match-winning century on Saturday, guiding his team to a spirited four-wicket victory over England Under-19s in the sixth Youth One-Day International at the National Cricket Stadium.
Dorne’s masterful 102 not out from 101 balls anchored the run chase, carrying the young Windies to 222 for six in 38.1 overs—overhauling England’s total of 221 and clinching an unassailable 4–2 lead in the seven-match series.
Early collapse tests Windies resolve
The run chase began disastrously. Zachary Carter fell for a duck in the second over, edging seamer James Minto behind. Minto struck again moments later, identically removing opener Tanez Francis to leave the West Indies reeling at 6 for 2.
Tilokani counterattacks, but England strikes back
Seeking stability, Dorne partnered with Kunal Tilokani in a vital 79-run stand, which steadied the innings and tilted momentum back toward the hosts. Tilokani counterpunched superbly, smashing 49 off just 29 balls before being dismissed by Manny Lumsden—a breakthrough that sparked another Windies collapse.
Shamar Apple fell for one, and Jonathan van Lange followed with a first-ball duck, plunging the hosts into deep trouble at 89 for 5. England held the advantage, and the match appeared to be slipping away.
Dorne and Miller spark dramatic turnaround
With the game hanging in the balance, Dorne found the perfect partner in Matthew Miller, and together they engineered a decisive recovery. Their 92-run sixth-wicket partnership not only rescued the innings but put the West Indies firmly in control.
Miller’s composed 43 off 48 balls ended via a run-out, but by then the Windies were cruising at 181 for 6 and well on course for victory.
Belle and Dorne seal the win
From there, Dorne and Shaquan Belle calmly guided the team home with an unbroken 41-run stand. Belle’s patient 14 not out off 34 balls perfectly complemented Dorne’s authority.
Dorne reached his century in the 37th over, dispatching Minto for two boundaries and hustling a two to raise three figures in style. Belle later struck the winning run to cap a remarkable fightback.
Van Lange shines with the ball
Earlier, West Indies gained the upper hand through a superb spell from Jonathan van Lange, whose 4 for 17 broke England’s backbone. The visitors slipped to 82 for 4 before captain Farhan Ahmed (54) and Joe Moores (42) revived the innings with a determined 92-run partnership.
Once Miller removed Ahmed, van Lange dismantled the tail, removing Ralphie Albert, Lumsden, and Alex Green in quick succession. Miller contributed 2 for 15, while Vitel Lawes added 2 for 38.
The seventh and final Youth ODI will be played Today, Monday.
