(CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS)- Folklore, pageantry and culture is in the air as ‘De Caribbean’s Greatest Summer Lime’, ‘Culturama’ is scheduled to kick off today, Thursday, July 25, 2013 with a grand launch at the Charlestown Waterfront.
The Nevis Culturama Festival 2013 will run from July 25 to August 6 under the theme History! Culture! Music! Combined! Culturama 39! This year’s 39 Edition of Culturama is expected to be full of entertainment and excitement according to organizers of the several activities listed on the calendar lineup.
The Grand Launch will take place at 6:00 p.m. This will be followed by The Brown Hill Communications and Peachicks Junior Kaiso Contest. A total of 12 contestants will be performing including the reigning King.

It’s an action packed weekend as the festival kicks off its first week of activities. On Friday, July 26 at 8:00 p.m. the Senior Kaiso Semi Finals Contest will be held at the Cultural Complex. Then on Saturday, July 27 all the local bands will take center stage at the Cultural Village for the ‘King of the Jungle Band Clash Competition’. On Sunday, July 28 all roads lead back to the Cultural Complex for the Ms Culture Swimwear and Mr. Kool Contests.
