ECLAC to host regional trade software workshops

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad — Trade experts from 12 regional territories will be the beneficiaries of training workshops, to be hosted by the ECLAC 2Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) on 14 and 15 August 2013, at the sub-regional headquarters for the Caribbean in Port of Spain, Trinidad.

The workshops will focus on educating participants on the use of trade software packages, which are the Competitive Analysis of Nations (TradeCAN), the Growth of International Commerce (MAGIC Plus) and the World Integrated Trade System (WITS).

The software packages will enhance the participants’ skills in several areas, including the analysis of trade performance, such as the evaluation of market share, the technology intensity of exports, and product specialisation and competitiveness, as well as other indicators.

The initiative is a continuation of similar workshops hosted by ECLAC in 2009 and 2011, and aims to enable trade experts to understand trade related challenges and opportunities within their respective countries.
