Somebody said that the crowd on hand was reminiscent of the Interprimary schools’ crowds, but if it was not so, it certainly was not far off.
A huge crowd showed up to witness the semi-final encounters in the Primary Schools’ Football tournament.
There was no parking space left in the Park, at Best Buy Supermarket, Cedar Trees and areas in close proximity.
In match one, the Joycelyn Liburd Primary School faced off with the Charlestown Primary School.
Not long into the first half, Casheem Taylor peeled off a stunning right booter from long range, that left the JLPS goalie stranded.
Charlestown Primary netted once again just before halftime.
At 2 goals to nil, it looked like a foregone conclusion.
Then early into the second half, one of the defenders for Charlestown erred in the box and the JLPS team easily netted a penalty.
Shortly thereafter, the JLPS team breached the CPS defence and netted once again.
Make that 2 goals-all.
Both teams gave it their all, up to the final whistle, but the scores remained tied up at 2-2 when the final whistle was blown.
The players were then ordered to a penalty shoot-out and Charlestown Primary came away the victors, with a scoreline of 4 goals to 2 and therefore securing a spot in the finals.

Game two, saw the St. Thomas’ primary School coming up against the St. James’ Primary School.
Many persons were predicting an easy walkover for the STPS team, but to the shock of many, St. James’ scored first and then scored again.
St. Thomas’ netted one and St. James’ put in another.
St. Thomas’ found the back of the net and made it 3 goals to 2.
Then St. James’ virtually put the issue beyond doubt by netting the fourth goal.
When the final whistle was blown by referee Malcolm Ramsey, St. James’ had won with a scoreline of 4 goals to 2 and comprehensively securing a berth in the finals.
