On Wednesday 25th October, as action in the Primary Schools’ Football championship continued at the ET Willet Park, the St. Thomas’ Primary School engaged the Maude Cross Preparatory School, in game three, on that day.
The Maude Cross Prep team, held its own in the opening exchanges, indicating quite clearly that they were out to compete and not just participate.
This team is the only team so far, brave enough to put a female in goal and she acquitted herself quite well.
However, the St. Thomas’ forwards were constantly applying pressure at the top and in the final analysis, it was a little too much for the young lass and four goals were scored.
To the joy of the MCPS supporters, their team was able to put in one stinging consolation goal into the back of the net and the celebration in the camp was suggestive of winning the entire tournament.
