Stapleton recalled his historic taking of 10 wickets in one inning, playing for St. Thomas versus St.Kitts, in a Leewards islands tournament match.

“I picked up eight wickets the afternoon and that night, me, Hugo Grant, Luther Kelly and Virgil Newton were hanging out and Virge said that before I get his wicket the next day, he prefers to run out himself, but I got him caught by Hugo Grant and went on to get the other wicket,” he said

Asked if it was true that ye told the other batsman to bat so that he could get 11 wickets, Stapleton laughingly responded: “That’s not true. You know people would put on, to make things sound nice, but that’s not true.”

Asked what advice he would give to young upcoming cricketers, his response was simple: ‘A man only got to practise. Practise and do your exercise!’
