After winning the toss and electing to field, Japan made an encouraging start with the ball. New-ball bowler Kai Wall struck in consecutive overs to remove Zachary Carter (15) and **Kunal Tilokani (0), reducing the West Indies to 42 for 2 inside the first nine overs.

The early breakthroughs, however, sparked a fierce response from the West Indies batting line-up. **Tanez Francis** anchored the innings with a composed and commanding unbeaten 122 from 148 balls, while **Shamar Apple unleashed a blistering assault lower down the order, smashing 124 from just 65 deliveries. Their combined efforts powered the West Indies to an imposing total of 346.

In reply, Japan struggled to build momentum against a disciplined West Indies bowling attack. Regular wickets fell, with R’Jai Gittens leading the charge by ripping through the top order to claim **four wickets**, leaving Japan in deep trouble at 54 for 7.

A brief resistance came through a 39-run partnership between Sekine and Waugh, the highest stand of the innings. Sekine was eventually bowled by **Lawes, while Waugh, who showed commendable resilience during a fighting **100-ball stay**, fell to McKenzie**, triggering a swift collapse.

The West Indies wrapped up a **convincing 229-run victory**, completing their warm-up campaign in emphatic fashion and sending a strong message ahead of the World Cup proper.
