Ivor Walters Primary School Open Day

(CHARLESTOWN NEVIS)-As part of its 50th anniversary celebrations, The Ivor Walters Primary School formerly known as Prospect Primary held an Open Day at the school’s premises on Monday, September 14, 2015.

Ms. Lornette Thompson, who retired from the school last year after 29 years of dedicated service, is currently operating a confectionary stand, of which all funds will be donated back to the school. She indicated humorously, that even though she had retired from her job, she has yet to retire from the school. Ms. Thompson noted that she has a deep affection for the school. She said will always play a part, once the opportunity provides itself. She noted, “I love this school very vey very much and I would always lend a helping hand once I am permitted to”. She also noted that the stand will be there for the remainder of the week, but she was unsure which days she would be there in person.

Principal of the school, Mrs. Janice Richards noted that the event was discussed very early in planning of the celebrations. She pointed out, that the Open Day was to give the community and the island at large a chance to sample some quality pastries and local drinks. Mrs. Richards indicated, that the week of activities for the anniversary have been going well thus far. She noted that a Cocktail will be held at Occasions on Thursday, September 17, commencing at 7:00 p.m. and the Independence Patriotic Program will be on Friday, September 18, 2015. In conclusion the principal urged everyone to support the school.
