Jamaican dancehall star Vybz Kartel once again at odds with the law

KINGSTON, Jamaica, Thursday September 19, 2013, CMC – Vybz Kartel, the incarcerated dancehall performer, is reportedly in more trouble with the law.

On Wednesday the police reported back-to-back seizures of several contraband items from the cell occupied by Kartel, whose given name is Adidja Palmer.

The reported contraband seizure came as investigators continued to probe the murder of music producer Patrick Samuels. Samuels, alias Roach, was gunned down early Sunday morning in the Corporate Area.

The Constabulary Communications Network (CCN), the communications arm of the police force reports that, on Sunday, as part of their investigations, detectives visited Kartel’s cell and seized two cellular phones and three thumb drives .

The cell of another inmate , Garfield Vassell, otherwise called ‘Zebra’, was also searched. A sim card, and a piece of paper containing instructions purportedly written by a popular entertainer, were reportedly seized.

Investigators subsequently returned to the prison and during further searches, a DVD player and an iPod were reportedly taken Kartel’s cell.

The police say the seized items will be analyzed as the police search for clues in a bid to find the perpetrators behind Samuels’ murder.
