Unlike the poor showing demonstrated in their previous encounter, when they were brushes aside by St. George’s 72 to 28, St. James’ approached their encounter versus the St. John’ team on Tuesday night, with a new vigour and zeal.
From the jump ball they looked as if they had shown up to compete and not merely to participate.
It was a ding-dong battle right down to the final quarter and despite the heroics of Gassano Barry and Kareem Parry for the St. John’s team, Marley and a few of his team mates, made some telling blows for the St. James’ team, including a few three pointers, that sent the appreciative crowd buzzing.
In the final analysis however, when the St. James’ team lost momentum in the final quarter, the St. John’s team used the opportunity to slowly but surely pull away to a decisive lead.
Final score: St. John’s 66 St. James’ 50
