Butler’s –Nevis-It was a Sabbath day’s celebration with a difference, as the Manning’s Seventh Day Adventist Church celebrated its 90th anniversary of service to the community.
It was the 25th of August and significantly, 90 years to the day, when the church first started and many of the persons who had been assisted in their growth and development, through the workings of the church, returned home for the significant milestone celebration.
This included past Pastors; Teachers; Nurses; Doctors and other professionals.
The Sabbath school was uniquely coordinated and was highlighted by a ‘fashion show’ with a difference, coordinated by Sister Aviela Bussue, who depicted through several individuals who were appropriately attired in line with their specific message and outlook on life, the active and inactive types of churches.
At the end of the presentation, she asked the congregation to choose which model of church, they would prefer to be a part of.
The Sabbath School lesson review was conducted by Dr. Whitman Browne, seasoned Educator and past member of the renowned church, who did an excellent job in reviewing the week’s study.
A special item in song, was rendered by the newly formed Manning’s 90th Anniversary choir, with Sister Aviela Bussue in the vocal spotlight.
The high point of the service was the sermon presentation by Pastor Kennedy Vanterpool, who previously pastored on Nevis.
He used his teaching session to guide the congregation into new insights as to the word of God.
The day climaxed with a sumptuous luncheon, held at the Butler’s Community Center.
