Masters Bounce Back to Defeat under 19’s

The Nevis Masters’ Cricket team, continued its practice sessions towards the defence of their Leeward Islands Masters’ trophy, when they engaged the Nevis under 19 team, on Tuesday 21st May, at the ET Willet Park.
The Masters’ won the toss and elected to bat first but were in immediate trouble as Curtis Morton Sr and Colin Mills went in the very first over, to a speedy Reon Solomon.
However, Captain Carl Tuckett joined the in form Ardie Liburd and the pair took the elder statesmen through the murky waters, to compile a fairly competitive score of 154 for 5, in their allotted 20 overs.
The under 19’s in response, were off to an equally rocky start, as the enterprising Jelani Manners, went for a first ball duck, off the bowling of Gerard TRINI Charles, unfortunately witnessed by his adoring mother.
Carlon Bowen –Tuckett, also being viewed by his equally adoring Mother, teamed up with Tijari Clarke, in an exciting partnership, which threatened to take the game away from the Masters.
However, once they were parted, the experience of the Masters’ team, came to the fore and it came down to 16 required from the final over bowled by Curtis Morton Sr.
They managed 12 and Morton picked up two wickets in the tension filled over.
