Charlestown, Nevis :
The Ministry of Education and Sports hosted a press briefing on Thursday, October 30, to provide updates on a series of upcoming sporting events.

The session was chaired by Mr Jamir Claxton, Assistant Secretary in the Ministry. It featured presentations from Education Officer Ms Nichola Fraser, Director of Sports Mr Aljay Newton, and Minister of Education and Sports, Hon. Troy Liburd.

During the briefing, officials announced the following key events:

National Bank Primary Schools Football Championship:

Semi-finals: Sunday, November 2, 5:00 p.m., at the E.T. Willett Park

Grand Finals: Sunday, November 9, 5:00 p.m., at the E.T. Willett Park

New Secondary School Tournaments:
Two new competitions will kick off in November, targeting secondary school students:

1. Football Tournament — featuring the Gingerland Secondary School Panthers and the Charlestown Secondary School Lions.
This three-part tournament will include Under-14 Boys, Open Boys, and Open Girls categories, with triple-header match days as follows:

Friday, November 7 – 3:00 p.m.

Wednesday, November 12 – 3:00 p.m.

Sunday, November 16 – 4:00 p.m.

2. Netball Tournament — featuring Under-14 Girls and Open Female categories, scheduled for:

Tuesday, November 4 – 4:30 p.m.

Saturday, November 8 – 6:30 p.m.

Tuesday, November 11 – 4:30 p.m.

Minister Liburd, along with students present at the briefing, encouraged members of the public to come out and support the island’s young athletes as they showcase their talent and sportsmanship in these upcoming events.
