Basseterre, St. Kitts – September 2026 – The Ministry of Health, in collaboration with partner Ministries, has officially commenced CSEC Mathematics Classes for staff, marking another step in the Government’s commitment to professional development and the strengthening of human resource capacity across the public service.
The initiative provides staff members with an opportunity to strengthen their mathematical knowledge and analytical skills while pursuing an important academic qualification that can support career progression within the civil service.
The programme is designed to:
Build proficiency in mathematics among participating staff members;
Enhance competence and confidence in analytical and problem-solving skills;
Create opportunities for career advancement and professional growth within the civil service; and
Support the Ministry’s Human Resources Development and Capacity Building pillar.
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health, Mr Curtis Martin, described the collaborative programme as a meaningful investment in the development of public-sector employees.
“This initiative is more than an academic exercise—it is an investment in our people. By equipping staff with stronger mathematical skills, we are building competence, opening doors for advancement, and strengthening the foundation of our health system. Collaboration with our sister Ministries ensures that this effort benefits the wider civil service and contributes to national progress,” said PS Martin.
The programme reflects a broader commitment by the Ministry of Health and its partner Ministries to creating opportunities for continuous learning and professional development. By strengthening the skills and capabilities of employees, the initiative is expected to contribute to greater efficiency, confidence, and effectiveness in the workplace.
