The popular saying indicates that ‘the early bird catches the worm’ and so the Gingerland Secondary School made it its business to be the first out of the blocks for the athletic year 2015.
On Tuesday 20th January the school held its first competitive race for the year in the form of a road relay.
The race included several categories of athletes at the starting line and running the same route, even though they were adjudged in their specific category.
The categories were: Senior boys and girls and junior boys and girls.
The athletes commenced the grueling run in front of the school’s main gate and proceeded along the main road, making a left turn just after BRINO’S shop in Hull ground.
They continued through Hard times, up through FIVE ACRES; through Rawlins and Zetlands and then back onto the main road, heading back to the school.
The relay stations were equally spaced along the route.
At the end of the event, with the cheer leaders having a field day, the results were:
1st Blue house—17:57
2nd Red house-19:05
3rd Green house: 20:01
