Jackiema Flemming

Jackiema Flemming of Sandy Point lives life with a purpose. She champions the cause of youth advancement through her role as a CARICOM Youth Ambassador. Her exemplary oratory skills are brought to the fore as a teacher of English and Literature at the Charles E. Mills Secondary School, as well as the P.R.O for UNESCO. Jackeima is a member of the Movado modeling agency, a linkage she used to remarkable success as she placed 2nd runner up in the 2014 Miss White Sans Swimsuit Pageant, her first national modeling competition. Jackiema displays her philanthropic spirit with her selfless contributions as a member of the Association for Blind. She knows what it is to be without sight as she was once legally blind. She has astigmatism plus Marfan syndrome and knows what it is like first hand to not be able to see. She notes that sight is such an important sense that we have as human beings. She notes that losing sight is losing trust, independence and freedom. She expresses how difficult it would be for persons to wake up and not be able to see the face of their mother, father and loved ones or the beautiful blue sky. Jackiema feels strongly about her involvement in the Association of The Blind because sight has impacted her life greatly and she has been able to overcome depression suffered due to being bullied in school because of her condition. Jackiema says having sight is a blessing and encourages all to take care of their eyes and to be kind and helpful to those without sight. Jackiema is simply extraordinary.
