The 2016 edition of the local Basketball season on Nevis, got on the way on the evening of Saturday 2nd April.
Despite torrential rains, just when the opening ceremony was about to take place, team members and spectators, stayed around long enough for the rain to subside; for the court to be dried and for the ceremony to take place.
All of the competing teams were represented at the ceremony which was ably chaired by Miss Shoya Lawrence, who opened with prayer and this was followed by the playing of the national anthem.
President of the Nevis Amateur Basketball Association (NABA), Miss Wanda Parry then gave brief remarks during which she warmly welcomed the participating teams and wished them every success during the league.
An inspection of the teams was then conducted by Miss Parry; Miss Lawrence and vice president of NABA, Miss Veronica Brandy.
This was followed by one game for that evening, played between Mark Brantley CG Massives and Ole Skool.
Massives won that game quite comfortably with a margin of 74 to 52
