Nevis goes under to Antigua and Barbuda

Antigua and Barbuda got the better of Nevis as the Leeward Islands Super 50 overs series continued in Antigua on Monday 21st October.

Antigua and Barbuda won the toss and decided to bat. The opening pair of Devon Thomas (62 from 50 balls) and Tyrone Williams (32 from 34 balls) posted an opening partnership of 93 runs that gave Antigua and Barbuda the launching pad for a large total.

A half-century from the big man Rahkeem Cornwall (69 runs from 70 balls) and a blistering innings by Alzarri Joseph (61 from 27 balls) got Antigua to a massive 293 for 9 in their allotted 50 overs. Jason Campbell was the pick of the Nevisian bowlers, he bagged 3 wickets for 27 runs from his 10 overs.

Nevis starting their innings and got to 45 before losing the first wicket when Ross Taylor (25 from 33 balls) was run-out. Andre Brown (69 from 100 balls) and Kezron Archibald (37 from 26 balls) were the main contributors with the bat for Nevis. Nevis lost wickets at critical intervals and could only muster a total of 200 all out in 43.2 overs.
