Nevis Over 35 Cricket Team Wins Luther Kelly Tournament in St. Maarten

The Nevis Over 35 Cricket team, returned triumphantly from St. Maarten on Tuesday night, after beating all of their opponents and taking the finals quite handsomely, in the annual Luther Kelly Over 35 tournament.

With St. Croix absent, only four teams participated in this year’s tournament: St. Kitts, Nevis, Anguilla and host St. Maarten.  Some of the matches were affected by rain, but that did not stop the organizers. They simply reduced the number of overs in those affected matches.

In the match versus Anguilla, Nevis got to 49 from 4.1 overs, after restricting Anguilla to 46 in their allotted 5 overs.

Summarized scores:

Anguilla – 46 from 5 overs
Chakka Hodge 16
Tonito Willet 2 for 3; Patrick Newton 1 for 10; Frank Monzac 1 for 15

Nevis 49 from 4.1
Tonito Willet 16; Ardie Liburd 16

Meanwhile, St. Kitts defeated St. Maarten and that set up nicely for a battle between the two teams from the federation, in the grand finals.

St. Kitts got to 118 for 8 from their allotted 15 overs but Nevis overhauled it quite comfortably to hold on to the big trophy and cash prize.

Summarized scores:

St. Kitts 118 for 8 from 15 overs
Bernard Taylor 33; Jason Saddler 28; Harwood Williams 17
Patrick Newton 4 for 13; Tonito Willet 1for 13

Nevis 119 for 2
