BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, JULY 2ND 2014 (CUOPM) – St. Kitts and Nevis has paid glowing tribute to St. Kitts and Nevis’ Non-Resident Ambassador to Cuba, His Excellency Mr. Cedric Harper and St. Vincent and the Grenadines Resident Ambassador in Cuba, His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Charles Corbette for services rendered on behalf of the Government and people of the twin-island Federation in Havana, Cuba.
Kingston-based Ambassador Harper is St. Kitts and Nevis’ High Commissioner in Jamaica.
“I must thank most sincerely His Excellency, Ambassador Cedric Harper, who has served as our Federation’s non-resident Ambassador to Cuba for so many years, a service that has been marked by dedication, dependability, and distinction. To him our Federation will forever be indebted. And on behalf of our Government and people, and on my own behalf, I thank and honour Ambassador Harper for his years of outstanding service, once again,” said Prime Minister Douglas during an address in Cuba, to officially open the St. Kitts and Nevis Embassy in Havana.
“To His Excellency Ambassador Dexter Rose and his dear wife Mrs. Rose of St. Vincent & the Grenadines Embassy here, who for so many years has, in a spirit of unstinting bilateral cooperation and solidarity, placed at our disposal the facilities and courtesies of the Embassy of St. Vincent & the Grenadines in Havana, I wish to express my country’s sincere gratitude. We are, indeed, in St. Vincent & the Grenadine’s debt,” Prime Minister Douglas told invited guests including officials from the Government of Cuba, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the CARICOM Ambassadors from St. Vincent and the Grenadines, St. Lucia, Jamaica, Guyana, Grenada, Dominica, Belize and Trinidad and Tobago.
Dr. Douglas said that the Embassy of St. Kitts and Nevis in Havana when fully operational will be advancing the interests of the respective persons and peoples, and continuing to build on the friendship which, over the past nineteen years, “we have so carefully nurture and established.”
He said that the St. Kitts and Nevis Embassy in Cuba will serve as a bridge to greater regional and international cooperation and understanding.
