Charlestown, Nevis – On Monday, 1st December, preschool teachers, nursery operators, and daycare caregivers from across the island were celebrated at a grand appreciation ceremony held at the Malcolm Guishard Recreational Centre.
Hosted by the Ministry of Education, the event marked the culmination of a successful series of Child Month activities. Educators who have served for **25 years or more** were honoured with certificates, beautifully crafted plaques, and special gifts in recognition of their longstanding service and dedication to early childhood development.
The longest-serving awardee, **Teacher Viana Stapleton-Powell**, received special recognition for an outstanding **43 years of service**.
Featured speaker **Mrs. Stevie Byron** and Permanent Secretary **Ms. Zahnela Claxton** delivered remarks highlighting the vital role of early childhood professionals. The ceremony was expertly chaired by Deputy Permanent Secretary **Mr. Juan Williams**.
Education officials—including Principal Education Officer **Londa Browne**, along with **Dawny Lanns** and **Brenda Williams**—assisted with the presentations.
The evening concluded with musical entertainment and a cocktail reception, bringing a warm and celebratory close to the occasion.
