Regional Under-19 rebranded to reflect new direction

KINGSTOWN, ST. VINCENT AND THE GRENADINES; FRIDAY JULY 27, 2019 – All systems indicate green as the countdown continues to the first ball being bowled on Sunday morning July 28, 2019 in the 2019 Cricket West Indies Regional Under-19 cricket tournament, scheduled to be held in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

With teams already on island, Windward Islands Cricket Board of Control president Dr. Kishore Shallow, is pleased with the preparations for the July 28 – August 06, 2019 tournament.

“Preparation have going according to plan thus far, suggesting that the tournament is anticipated to be a success” stated Dr. Shallow.

Dr. Shallow, who is also the president of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Cricket Association, noted the paradigm shift by the new administration of Cricket West Indies, to place greater emphasis on youth cricket.

“There is a re-branding of the Under-19 tournament this year, which is a reflection of the new direction of Cricket West Indies, where youth cricket and development are at the centre of the Cricket First Plan,” he added.

The 2019 CWI Regional Under-19 tournament bowls off this Sunday July 28, at three venues, namely Cumberland Playing Field, Parkhill Playing Field, and Arnos Vale Cricket Grounds; all matches commence at 9:30 a.m.

The match-ups

At the Arnos Vale Cricket Grounds, it will be the Windward Islands taking on Guyana, while the Leeward Islands and Jamaica clash at Cumberland, and Trinidad and Tobago and Barbados do battle at Parkhill.

On Tuesday July 30th, the Windward Islands take on the Leeward Islands at Cumberland , Guyana and Barbados clash at Arnos Vale, while Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaica do battle at Parkhill.

Thursday August 01st The Windward Islands take on Trinidad and Tobago at Parkhill, Guyana and the Leeward Islands do battle at Cumberland, and at Arnos Vale, Jamaica and Barbados clash.

On Sunday August 04th, the Windward Islands and Barbados will battle at Parkhill, the Leeward islands and the Trinidad and Tobago battle at Arnos Vale, while and Jamaica and Guyana will clash at Cumberland.

The final round of matches will be on August 06th, featuring the Windward Islands versus Jamaica at Cumberland, while Barbados and the Leewards at Parkhill, and Guyana and Trinidad and Tobago do battle at Arnos Vale.
