Report Of Arrests, Convictions and Other Activities

Basseterre, St. Kitts, March 20, 2018 (RSCNPF): Below is a report of arrests, convictions and other activities recorded by the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force for the period March 13-18, 2018.

ARRESTS AND BAIL:
Arrested: Wilson Dore of Bath Village was arrested, formally charged and cautioned for the offence of Carrying Abroad an Offensive Weapon to wit a Machete.

Arrested: Edwards George of Fort Thomas Road was arrested, formally charged and cautioned for the offence of Larceny which was committed on March 15, 2018 at Dong Fang Supermarket.

Arrested: Hansan Noland of Bird Rock was arrested, formally charged and cautioned for the offences of Possession of Cannabis and Possession of Cannabis with Intent to Supply to Another.

Arrested/Bailed: Andrew Herbert of Lower Fiennes Avenue was arrested, formally charged and cautioned for the offence of Unlawful Possession. He was granted bail in the sum of $5,000 for his appearance at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on April 09, 2018.

Arrested/Bailed: Khalifah Liburd of Buckley’s Estate was arrested, formally charged and cautioned for the offence of Possession of Cannabis. He was granted bail in the sum of $1,000 for his appearance at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on April 09, 2018.

Bailed: Ian Hull of Cunningham Village, Cayon, who was committed to stand trial in the May 2018 criminal assizes for the offence of Possession of Firearm and Ammunition, was granted bail in the sum of $30,000 for his appearance to stand trial in May.

Bailed: Marley Norford of St. Pauls, who was arrested for Building Break-in and Larceny and Malicious Damage at Kittitian Hill, was granted bail in the sum of $20,000 for his appearance at the Dieppe Bay Magistrate Court on May 14, 2018.

Bailed: Joseph Caines of St. Pauls, who was arrested for Building Break-in and Larceny and Malicious Damage at Kittitian Hill, was granted bail in the sum of $20,000 for his appearance at the Dieppe Bay Magistrate Court on May 14, 2018.

Bailed: Mr. Keith Hicks of King Street, Basseterre, who was charged for the offences of Possession of Cannabis, Possession of Cannabis with Intent to Supply, Possession of Cocaine and Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Supply, was bailed in the sum of $75,000 for his appearance before the Basseterre Magistrate Court on April 09, 2018. The bail conditions are: 1) he is to report to the Basseterre Police Station every Friday between 6 a.m.-6 p.m.; and 2) he is to surrender all travel documents to the Magistrate Court.

Bailed: Mr. Sylvester James of Buckleys Site, who was charged for the offence of Grievous Bodily Harm, was granted bail in the sum of $20,000 for his appearance at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on April 09, 2018. His bail condition is to report to the Basseterre Police Station every Monday and Friday between 6 a.m.-6 p.m.

COURT CONVICTIONS:

In matters at the District “B” Magistrate Court, presided over by Ms. Karen Hector, the following were reported involving the Licensing Authority:

– Jermaine Liburd of Newton Ground, who was charged for Careless Driving, was ordered to pay $800 by March 31, 2018 or, in default, serve thirty (30) days in prison.

– Kaheel Garroden of Back Way, Sandy Point who was charged for Careless Driving, was ordered to pay $800 by March 31, 2018 or, in default, serve thirty (30) days in prison.

In matters at the District “A” Magistrate Court, presided over by his Honor Ronald Benjamin, the following matters were reported:

– Cynthia Maynard of Fortlands, who was charged for Driving Without Due Care and Attention, was convicted and cautioned.

– Clovil Joseph of Central Cayon, who was charged with the offence of Driving Without Due Care and Attention, was convicted and fined $350 to be paid in fourteen (14) days or, in default, serve seven (7) days imprisonment.

– Harold Maynard of Bay View Housing, Camps, who was charged for the offence of Driving an Unlicensed Vehicle, was convicted and fined $200 to be paid forthwith or, in default, serve fourteen (14) days imprisonment.

– Muhammed Zubain of Frigate Bay, who was charged for the offence of Driving an Unlicensed Vehicle, was charged $200 to be paid in fourteen (14) days or, in default, serve fourteen (14) days imprisonment.

– Eriberto Lorenzo of George Street, Newtown was charged with the offence of Driving Without a Valid and Unexpired Driver’s Licence, however the matter was withdrawn at the Magistrate Court.

In matters at the District “B” Magistrate Court, presided over by Her Honour Ms. Karen Hill-Hector, the following were reported:

– Wayne Grant of Green Tree Housing Project, who was charged with the offence of Driving Without Due Care and Attention, was convicted and fined $600 to be paid by March 31, 2018 or, in default, serve one (1) month in prison.

OTHER ACTIVITIES:

Search Warrants Executed: Police executed several search warrants during the period of this report. Warrants were executed on properties in the following areas: Stapleton Village and Conaree.

Abandoned Properties: Police continued to execute searches on abandoned properties. Most recently, searches were done in the following areas: Old Road, Trafalgar Village, Lower Thibou Avenue, Lower Durant Avenue, King Street, Taylor’s Village and Upper Fiennes Avenue. These searches were executed as part of the Police’s efforts to remove controlled drugs, firearms and ammunitions from our communities.

Building Break-ins and Larcenies: Police responded to a number of building break-ins and larcenies that occurred in the following areas: Ponds Extension, Bird Rock, Cardin Avenue and Wades Garden. Investigations into these matters are continuing.

Marijuana Uprooted: Officers from the District “B” patrol reported that they discovered, uprooted and seized, 1,500 Marijuana plants from Parson’s Mountain Range. The plants ranged from seedling to 4 ft in height.
