Montserrat suffers first defeat while Saint Maarten claims first win

Sept 21st 2018 – Little Bay, Montserrat

Saint Maarten defeated Anguilla by 5 wickets to record its first victory in the LICB 50 over tournament, extending Anguilla’s dismal performance in the tournament.

Scores Anguilla 87 all out in 24.2 overs, Chesney Hughes 29, Chad Hampson 2-29, Shadrack Descartes 2-22, Shaquille Martina 2-12, Daniel Doram 2-9.

Saint Maarten 88 for 5 in 24 overs, Akeem Charles 24

Sept 21st 2018 – Salem Park

St. Kitts defeated Montserrat by 7 wickets to remain unbeaten so far in the tournament.

Batting first, Montserrat was bowled out for 157 in 44.1 overs. Jaison Peters 48, Shernyl Burns 30. Jeremiah Louis 3-24, Sheeno Berridge 4-30.

In reply, St. Kitts 158 for 3 in 30.4 overs. Terrance Ward 55 not out, Akeem Saunders 41. Damion Williams 1-34.

Antigua & Barbuda win three straight while St. Kitts dominates Nevis

Sept 22nd 2018 – Little Bay, Montserrat

Antigua defeats Saint Maarten by 117 runs

Batting first, Antigua & Barbuda scored 273 all out. Rahkeem Cornwall 95, Shane Burton 43. Daniel Doram 3-34, Kerry Mentore 3-65.

Saint Maarten, 156 all out, Chad Hampson 29. Karima Gore 3-36, Shavon Moore 2-8, Rahkeem Cornwall 2-20.

Man-of-the-match: Rahkeem Cornwall.

Sept 21st 2018 – Salem Park

St. Kitts defeats Nevis by 86 runs.

Batting first, St. Kitts made 190 for the loss of 7 wickets in their allotted 50 overs. Top-scorer for St. Kitts was Terrance Ward 71 with Jeremiah Louis contributing 40 runs. Nelson Boland took 2 wickets for 29 runs.

In reply Nevis scored 104 all out with top-scorer Jason Campbell scoring 29 runs and Joseph Williams 22 runs. Jeremiah Louis 4 wickets for 16 runs.

ROUND 6 REPORT LICB 50 OVERS TOURNAMENT

St. Kitts defeats Antigua & Barbuda to win LICB Tournament

Sept 23rd – Little Bay, Montserrat

An enterprising 98 from Akeem Saunders helped St. Kitts defeat Antigua & Barbuda by 4 wickets to win the LICB 50 overs tournament on Sunday. With one more game left in the tournament, St. Kitts took an unassailable lead with 9 points. Batting first, Antigua & Barbuda recovered from a slow start and progress to score 218 for the loss of 7 wickets off its allotment of 50 overs. Kofi James top-scored with 55 runs and Damien Lowenfield scored 40 runs. Bowling for St. Kitts, Jacques Taylor took 2 wickets for 29 runs from 10 overs.

In reply, Saunders 107 ball knock helped put St. Kitts in position to complete the victory as they scored the winning runs in the 49th over. Saunders was assisted by Mikyle Louis’ 46 and Terrance Ward’s 31 to pull off the victory and remain unbeaten in the tournament. Shavon Moore captured 3 wickets for 53 runs from 8 overs while Orlando Peters claimed 2 for 42 from 10.

Saunders’ knock also earned him the Man-of-the-Match award.

Sept 23rd – Salem Park, Montserrat

Chesney Hughes century helped Anguilla defeat Nevis by 3 wickets the record its first victory in the tournament and extend Nevis’ horrid winless run in the tournament.

Batting first, Nevis compile what could have been a winning total of 285 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 50 overs. Leading the charge was Adelvin Philip with 90 runs off 60 deliveries which included 10 fours and 4 sixes. He was supported by Saeed Williams’ 63 from 83 balls. Yannick Leonard was economical taking 1 for 24 from 10 overs.

Anguilla started explosively in reply before losing the wicket of Montcin Hodge for 25 in 27 deliveries however, Keacey Carty continued the chase aggressively, scoring 70 runs from only 36 deliveries with 6 sixes and 4 fours. Hughes’ 104 comprised of 12 fours off 120 balls and after he departed, Asharn Hodge’s 67 ball 55 helped Anguilla home in the 44th over.

Hughes earned the Man-of-the-Match award for his effort.

Matches continue tomorrow with Montserrat against Anguilla at Salem Park and Saint Maarten vs Nevis at at Little Bay.
