St Kitts and Nevis ranked #3 of World’s Best Islands

BASSETERRE, St Kitts, Friday May 11, 2012 – St Kitts and Nevis has copped third spot on a list of the “10 Best Islands in the World” by US News & World Report. It was pipped to the post by The Maldives and Bora Bora, at numbers one and two, respectively.

St Kitts and Nevis edged out such destinations as Seychelles, Fiji, the Cayman Islands, St Martin-St Maarten and the United States Virgin Islands.

Illustrated by a shot of St Kitts’ Frigate Bay Beach, US News & World Report stated:

“Why Go: It’s no wonder that these two islands attract celebs in droves. Who wouldn’t want to spend their vacation sprawled across golden-brown sands, exploring ancient fortresses, or noshing on fried conch? St Kitts & Nevis offer their visitors an authentic Caribbean experience, from the history exhibited at the Brimstone Hill Fortress, to the drinks served at the shack-like beach bars.

And note that both islands boast spectacular shorelines, so you can’t go wrong with either.”

Other pictures displayed included Brimstone Hill National Park, Frigate Bay, Frigate Bay Golf Course, Cottle Church, Pinney’s Beach and The Alexander Hamilton House.

The publication allows people to vote whether or not the destination belongs on the list, which determines 50 percent of the ranking.

Other islands listed, in descending order, were: Santorini, Seychelles, Fiji, Maui, Cayman Islands, St Martin –St Maarten and the United States Virgin Islands.
