Steve Manners Anticipates Christena Memorial Swim Becoming an International Event

One of the main coordinators of the Christena Disaster 50th commemorative events, Stevenson Manners, in conducting a recent review of the historic occasion, opined that the swim from Nag’s Head to Pinney’s Beach, done by four swimmers, will not only become an annual event but will also gain international proportions.

Manners logically referred to the now annual cross channel swim, which he pointed out, started as a purely local event, but has now gained international acclaim and attracts swimmers from around the world, on an annual basis.

Manners also congratulated President of the St. Kitts-Nevis Swimming Federation, Mr. Winston Crooke, and Terri Andrews for their part in coordinating the swim.  He also had words of commendation for the four swimmers: Valerie Gregoire; Jane Handsome; Mary Parks and Geoffrey Folsom.

He used the opportunity to thank the many individuals and entities who had participated in one way or the other, to make the commemoration activities as successful as they were.
