The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF) is currently investigating a suspected drowning that reportedly occurred on December 17, 2025, between 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., in Dieppe Bay, St. Kitts.
Upon responding to the scene, police officers observed 40-year-old Travis Smithen of Rawlins Project, St. Paul’s, lying motionless along the shoreline. Preliminary investigations suggest that Mr Smithen had been diving with friends when he became unresponsive while in the water. He was subsequently brought ashore, where he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Crime Scene Unit processed the area, and a post-mortem examination has been ordered to determine the exact cause of death. Investigations into the incident remain ongoing, and further updates will be provided as information becomes available.
The RSCNPF extends its sincere condolences to the family, friends, and all those affected by Mr Smithen’s untimely passing.
