On May 12 and May 15, 2025, several traffic-related cases were heard at the Basseterre Magistrate Court before Her Honour Yasmine Clarke and Her Honour Sherry-Ann Liburd Charles.
On May 12, the court issued rulings in the following cases:
1. Ganraj Persuad of New Road was found guilty of driving without due care and attention. He was fined $1,500.00, payable within three months, or he would face three months of imprisonment.
2. Onzel Tyrell pleaded guilty to driving an unlicensed vehicle and was fined $250.00, payable within three weeks, or he would face 14 days of imprisonment.
On May 15, the following convictions were recorded:
1. Hilton Julius of Old Road pleaded guilty to three counts of driving without due care and attention. He was fined $2,000.00, payable within one month, or he would face 30 days of imprisonment.
2. Melissa Stevens of Molyneux pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention and was fined $750.00, payable within one month, or she would face 14 days of imprisonment.
3. Dwayne Warner of Mansion Extension was found guilty of driving without due care and attention and was fined $1,500.00, payable within one month, or he would face 30 days of imprisonment.
4. Janae Thompson of Old Road pleaded guilty to multiple offenses:
– Permitting another to drive without insurance: Cautioned
– Permitting another to drive without a valid license: Fined $400.00, payable by June 13, 2025, or she would face 14 days of imprisonment.
5. Blessed Ogbum of Bird Rock pleaded guilty to multiple offenses:
– Driving without a valid license: Fined $1,000.00, payable by June 30, 2025, or he would face 14 days of imprisonment.
– Driving without insurance: Fined $750.00, payable by July 31, 2025, or he would face 14 days of imprisonment.
– Exceeding the speed limit: Fined $450.00, payable by May 30, 2025, or he would face 14 days of imprisonment.
– Driving with a darkly tinted windscreen and windows: Cautioned.
