CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS — Approximately 22 young football enthusiasts aged 12 and older gathered at the ET Willett Park on Saturday, August 15, and Sunday, August 16, for a comprehensive referees’ coaching seminar designed to train the next generation of match officials.

The initiative was conceived and coordinated by international referee Kimbell Ward and international assistant referee Mario Parry as a joint effort to give back to the local football community.

Malcolm Ramsey, CONCACAF’s Referee Development Coordinator, served as the primary facilitator for the weekend workshop. Participants were introduced to the fundamental Laws of the Game, receiving detailed instruction on critical match scenarios, including handball offences, offside rulings, and penalty area incidents.

In addition to classroom instruction, the young participants underwent a physical fitness session led by instructor Masefield Nisbett.

Organisers confirmed that follow-up sessions will continue in the coming weeks. Graduates of this initial seminar will gain practical experience by officiating matches in the upcoming Primary Schools Football Tournament. Plans are also currently underway to host an official FIFA refereeing course in the near future.
