UNDER 21 PARISH LEAGUE DUNKS OFF THIS WEEKEND

President of the Nevis Amateur Basketball Association (NABA), Miss Wanda Parry, confirmed on Tuesday, that her Association will be hosting an under 21 Parish league, commencing this coming Saturday-8th of October.

She stated that the original plan was for the matches in the tournament to be spread out to courts across the island. However, the conditions of many of the courts are not up to par and so the decision has been made to host the entire tournament at the Grell Hull-Stevens Netball Complex.

She also indicated that her Association is receiving maximum support from the Youth and Sports Department and such support is truly appreciated.

As a matter of fact, earlier in the year, the Youth and Sports Department hosted an under 19 Parish league, which was very successful and most of the players in the upcoming tournament are expected to come form that solid base which was formulated then.

There is no registration fee and the tournament will commence with a brief opening ceremony at 6.30 pm and this will be immediately followed by match number one between St. Pauls’ and St. John’s , who are incidentally the two finalists from the previous tournament hosted by the Youth and Sports Department.

Matches will be played on Sunday; Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday evenings and the tournament is expected to last for no longer that two and a half weeks, when the two lead teams will clash in the finals.
