Windies Under-19s Depart for 2026 ICC Men’s Under-19 World Cup

The West Indies Under-19 team departed the Grantley Adams International Airport in Christ Church, Barbados, late Tuesday afternoon, heading to the 2026 ICC Men’s Under-19 Cricket World Cup.

The regional side will be aiming to end a 10-year title drought, having secured its historic first championship in 2016. This year’s tournament, which will be co-hosted by Namibia and Zimbabwe, is scheduled to bowl off on January 15.

Under-19 Head Coach Rohan Nurse expressed confidence in the squad and its preparation and said he expects the team to deliver competitive performances throughout the tournament.

“We have a balanced group of players who have worked extremely hard during the build-up. Our objective is to compete strongly in every match and put ourselves in a position to challenge for the title,” Nurse said.

The team completed a series of training camps and warm-up matches leading into the tournament, focusing on building depth in both batting and bowling, as well as sharpening fielding standards. Coaching staff have also emphasised discipline, game awareness, and adaptability to conditions expected in Southern Africa.

The West Indies Under-19s are drawn in the group stage alongside several strong opponents and will open their campaign shortly after arrival. Tournament fixtures will continue through February.
