WTO Post-Trade Policy Review Meeting for the OECS WTO Members

After the completion of the third (3rd) WTO (World Trade Organisation) Review of Member

States’ Trade Policies and Practices in 2014, it was agreed by both parties to convene a regional

meeting to discuss the outcome of the Review and develop a Strategy for the way forward.

The OECS (Organisation of the Eastern Caribbean States) Commission in collaboration with the

WTO Secretariat, and the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis, through the Ministry of

International Trade, Industry Commerce and Consumer Affairs will be convening the OECS Post

– WTO Trade Policy Review Meeting on the 24th and 25th November, 2015, at the Ocean Terrace

Inn; the meeting starts at 9:00 a.m.

Essentially, the aim of this meeting is to discuss among OECS Member States the

following:

 

  1. The main findings and decisions of the 3rd OECS Trade Policy Review,

 

  1. Identify and Priorities areas for follow-up action

iii. Develop an implementation plan of activities to address

outstanding trade policy matters

 

  1. Improve compliance and trade performance across the OECS –

WTO Members.

It is envisaged that this meeting will provide a regional platform for OECS’ stakeholders to be

personally engaged by the each other and the WTO in matters regarding their respective

country’s trade policies and practices, and the OECS region as bloc.

Participants are expected from the St. Kitts and Nevis Chambers of Industry and Commerce, and

other private sector companies including, St. Christopher Air and Sea Port Authority (SCASPA),

and Nevis Air and Sea Port Authority (NASPA) St. Kitts Investment Promotion Agency

(SKIPA), Nevis Investment Promotion Agency (NIPA), Customs and Excise Department,

Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Agriculture, St. Kitts and Nevis Bureau of Standards, Ministry

of Justice and Legal Affairs, the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB). —
